Tongue Brushing for Better Oral Health
Whoever heard of brushing your tongue? Well, it's really an old idea that's come round again. Tongue brushing is an ancient practice. Of course, our ancestors didn't have all the fancy research we have today, but they were onto something good and practicing preventative dentistry.
Now we know our tongue needs brushing as much as our teeth do. We could probably even say our tongue is the dirtiest part of our mouth. The tiny papillae -- or small bulges on the tongue -- are breeding ground for bacteria that can cause bad breath or re-infect your teeth with germs. It's a battleground out there.
Brushing or scraping off bacteria is good oral hygiene. The next time you brush, think of it as defeating an army of bacteria every day.
